Are you ever coming home
There’s a window that I wait and watch for you to come home.
It is winter, so it gets dark outside early.
I can see the corner from the light that shines down and bathes the street in a yellow glow.
The people in the cross walk are busy with their lives as they come and go.
Some of them are taking their dogs for a walk in the park.
I love that park myself.
A taxi is honking for the lady who lives in the building across the street.
The airport is open again and she was anxious to go visit her sick mother.
The window is still messy from where I pressed my face against it yesterday waiting for you.
I can smell the beef stroganoff that Mrs. Brown upstairs in 302 is cooking.
It has been a long day and I can’t wait for you to get home.
Uh OH, there is a pigeon just outside, on the windowsill.
God, I just know he is going to do his business out there, “Go Away Mr. Pigeon”.
Maybe you will get here sooner if I sit on the chair by the door and listen for your footsteps.
I sure am hungry and that beef stroganoff really smells good.
I hope we can eat as soon as you get here.
I must be getting paranoid, I hear a noise outside in the hall but it doesn’t sound like you.
I’m going to check the window again to see if you are coming up the street.
That pigeon is still there.
Shoo, get out of here and find another nest.
It must be really cold outside, I can see the breath of that man waiting for the light to change.
I hate this time of night waiting for you.
I get nervous when you are not here on time.
Now I’m starting to itch.
I always itch when I get nervous
I just hate it when I get an itch in the middle of my back.
Its is so hard to reach.
It seems like all I do is pace back and forth between the window and the door.
And if I get board I can change directions and pace between the door and the window.
What’s this, I hear the key in the door.
Oh, Oh, hot dang, your home.
I just know you’re really, really home.
Boy am I ever glad to see you.
I sure have a story to tell you about this crazy pigeon.
But first, please, get my leash.
You know I really gotta get out of here and pee.
